Alexandra Jahn is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences (ATOC) and a Fellow at the Institute for Arctic and Alpine Research at the University of Colorado Boulder. Alexandra heads the Polar and Paleoclimate dynamics group at CU Boulder. Her main interests are Arctic ocean and sea ice dynamics and the role of internal variability versus forced changes in the climate system. She and her group investigate both past climate states and future climate projections, with a focus on the polar regions. Alexandra’s group uses climate models in combination with observational data to understand climate processes. Prior to joining the CU Boulder faculty, Alexandra spent five years as a postdoc and project scientist at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder. She earned a PhD in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, and a Diplom degree in Meteorology from the Free University of Berlin, Germany, and was an exchange student at the University of Washington, Seattle, in 2001/02.
